The lodge is located 206 km south of the Equator on the eastern boundary of the Masai Mara Game Reserve in southwestern Kenya, 2 km from the Oloolaimutia Gate. The reserve, the best-known game area in East Africa, is 1,120 sq. km of prime safari wildlife-viewing territory bordering the Serengeti National Park.

 

The lodge has an altitude of 2,104 meters (6,400 feet) above sea level, and because of the cool breeze through the valley it is located in, it enjoys warm days and cool evenings. The April / June, October / November rainy season ensured that the reserve is verdant almost throughout the year. Only the lightest of clothes are recommended although a light sweater might be needed for early mornings and late evenings. More formal attire might be advisable for cocktails and theme evenings, while swimwear is needed by the pool.
