Best time to visit

East Africa is a year-round destination, but conditions vary by country, altitude and ecosystem. Dry periods can make some roads and wildlife viewing easier; greener months can bring dramatic landscapes and strong birdlife.

Safari seasons

June to October is a popular drier period in much of Kenya and northern Tanzania. Conditions can also be favourable from January to March, while seasonal rain patterns vary and should be checked for the exact route.

Great Migration planning

The herds follow rain and grazing rather than a fixed calendar. A season-aware route can improve opportunities, but river crossings, calving dates and individual wildlife events can never be guaranteed.

Getting around

Road safaris typically use a purpose-prepared safari vehicle. Flights may be proposed for some longer routes, but the exact vehicle, luggage allowance and transfer arrangement should be written into the confirmed itinerary.

Budget, lodge and luxury

Budget trips prioritise the route and guiding with simpler accommodation. Lodge and luxury options add comfort or exclusivity, but named properties and room types remain subject to the accepted quotation and availability.

Family safaris

A useful family plan considers children's ages, drive times, room configuration, meal needs, pool access and any minimum-age rules. These details should be confirmed for the chosen properties and activities.

Honeymoon safaris

A private safari can be paired with a coast or Zanzibar stay. Romantic extras should only be treated as included when they appear in the accepted quotation.

Responsible travel

Respect park rules, wildlife viewing distances, community guidance and local customs. Avoid cultural visits that are staged without clear community benefit, and never pressure wildlife for a photograph.
