Day 1: Dar Es Salaam - Selous
Drive to Selous after breakfast. Lunch at Rufiji River Camp. Evening game drives in this famous game park that is renowned for its

prolific wildlife. Dinner and overnight at Rufiji River Camp or similar. (Lunch and dinner)

Day 2 - 3: Selous Game Reserve.
Full day game viewing with picnic lunch. Dinner and overnight at Rufiji River Camp or similar. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner)

Day 4: Selous Game Reserve - Dar es Salaam
Morning game drives followed by early lunch. After lunch drive back to Dar Es Salaam. (Breakfast and lunch)

Best of Southern Circuit - 19 Days

Day 1: Dar es Salaam / Selous
Depart from Dar by 4 wheel-drive to Selous Game Reserve. Arrive late afternoon with an enroute game drive, dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day 2: Selous Full Day

 Full day game drive of Selous Game Reserve. Selous, Africa's largest wildlife Sanctuary with an area of 54,600 sq km is bigger than Denmark and 4 times the size of Serengeti. It has the World's largest number of big game - Elephants, Buffaloes, Rhinos; Sable Antelopes. Selous also contains Wildebeest, Elands, Giraffes, Waterbucks, Zebras, Impalas, Hippos, Leopards and Lions. There are about 350 species of Birdlife. Return to the camp for dinner and overnight

 

  
  

Day 3: Selous Full Day
After breakfast, boat safari along the Mighty Rufiji River. Spectacular Bird-life can be seen along the banks of the river, followed by walking safari - This safari allows an intimate impression of the African bush and wildlife, which is unforgettable and brings you closest to pristine nature. Return to camp for Dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Selous / Kilombero
After breakfast leave for Kilombero, lunch en route, dinner and overnight at the simple hotel or to the campsite.

Day 5: Kilombero / Mikumi
Early morning breakfast, walking at Kilombero valley, then proceed to Mikumi National Park for afternoon game drive; Mikumi is rich in wildlife and contains the famous Big Five. Dinner and overnight at the campsite.

Day 6: Mikumi / Udzungwa Mountains National Park
Drive to Udzungwa Mountains National Park - a link in the chain of Africa’s Eastern Arc Mountains, Udzungwa is made for hikers and climbers on trails through the rain forest and along the Escarpments. The Plateau is a Natural Top with views of sugar plantations against a Patchwork of Grassland and Mountain Forest extending over 100 kilometers. Colobus monkeys are seen playing on the shelter of 30 meters high trees. Walking at Udzungwa, dinner and overnight at the campsite.

Day 7: Udzungwa / Ruaha
Leave Udzungwa and drive to Ruaha for afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at the campsite.

Day 8: Ruaha
Breakfast , then full day game drive in Ruaha National Park with an area of 10,300sq.km.. This is the second largest park, and second largest Elephant sanctuary in Tanzania. The Great Ruaha River which flows along its entire Eastern Border, creating spectacular Gorges and Scenery, features a large number of Hippos and Crocodiles. The wide variety of animals include Greater and Lesser Kudus, Roan and Sable Antelope. Birdlife is rich, with over 370 species recorded. Return to the campsite for dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Ruaha / Katavi Plains National Park
After breakfast, drive to West of Tanzania at Katavi plains National Park arriving late afternoon dinner and overnight at the Campsite

Day 10: Katavi Plains National Park Full day
Full day game drive in Katavi National Park, the huge untouched Africa wilderness due to relatively few visitors. Those guests arriving here will feel themselves as the first explorers to Africa. The main features of this park are the Watery Grass Plains to the North, the Palm – Fringed Lake Chada in the South East, and the Katuma River. Katavi boasts of Tanzania’s greatest populations of both Crocodiles and Hippopotamus. Lion and Leopard find prey among the huge population of Herbivores. The name of the park comes from the legendary hunter; Katabi whose spirit is believed to possess a tamarind tree ringed with offerings from locals begging his blessings.Return to the campsite for dinner and overnight.

Day 11:Katavi / Mahale Mountains National Park
Leave Katavi for Mahale Mountains National Park , arriving late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at the campsite.These fascinating animals roam in the isolated rainforest of Malale, a chain of dramatic peaks dropped in lush vegetation falling to Lake Tanganyika’s beaches far below. Return to the campsite for dinner and overnight.

Day 13 and 14: Mahale / Mwanza
Drive from Mahale to Mwanza - the North side of the country, passing through the middle land of Tanzania and overnight at Tabora. Next day proceed with your 4x4 vehicle, arriving Mwanza late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at the Hotel in Mwanza.

Day 15: Mwanza / Rubondo Island National Park
Fly from Mwanza to Rubondo Island in Lake Victoria for fishing. Rubondo Island protects precious fish breeding grounds. Tilapia and the Nile perch, some weighing more than 100 Kgs. Rubondo is home to fish eagles and a global stopover for hundreds of migratory birds. The indigenous mammal species are Hippo, Bush buck, genet, and Mongoose, and the introduced species such as Chimpanzees, Elephant, and Giraffe. Dinner and overnight at the lodge in Rubondo.

Day 16: Rubondo Island
Full day spent in Rubondo Island National Park for fishing or relax to the sandy beaches.

Day 17: Rubondo / Mwanza
From Rubondo fly back to Mwanza and transfer to the Hotel. Afternoon spent in leisure. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 18: Mwanza / Lake Natron

 Leave Mwanza early morning and drive to Lake Natron. Afternoon spent visiting this Soda Lake and view Mt Ol Donyo Lengai - meaning the home of GOD, the only active Volcanic Mountain in Tanzania. Dinner and overnight at the campsite.

Day 19: Lake Natron /Arusha
After breakfast, drive to Arusha, arriving in time for lunch.
